Welcome!

My name is Sharyn Hall, and I’m a professional mixed media and textile artist, and contemporary quilt maker.

I work from my studio in Brookfield, Brisbane, Australia, in between travelling nationally and internationally to study and exhibit. It’s rare that you’ll find me without my camera – photography is my source material, my inspiration, the colours and textures of the landscape and the cultural aspects of my travel experiences inform my design ideas. Utilizing the medium of textiles, I enjoy creating art pieces, which imbue a sense of spirit.

My current work combines the mediums of my hand-dyed and printed fabrics, with a range of media: felt, paper, metal, found objects; and I use stitch, manipulation and embellishment to colour and  texture the textile surface. Artworks include textile pieces suitable for wall display (framed and unframed) and freestanding (plinth or suspended) 3 dimensional (relief) sculptured and moulded textiles. I am also enjoying experimenting with and creating a range of art wearables: wraps and scarves, collars, chokers and headpieces which incorporate my manipulated (3 dimensional) dyed and printed silk and polyester fabrics and mixed media embellishments.

You can find out more about my history as an artist, view my profile and CV, or explore my gallery to see examples of my artworks.  Latest exhibitions and events will let you know what I’m currently involved in, and the places you can meet me (and see my artwork in person), and my journal is where I’ll keep you up to date with my musings and what’s happening in the studio.

Please feel free to explore my website – and join me on a journey of discovery!
